Guidelines on Foods and Diets in Hospitals

The food eaten during hospitalization can influence the progression of a number of conditions, such as cardiac disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and even epilepsy. In addition, it has the potential to prevent complications associated with some therapies and to promote recovery in patients with chronic diseases, mainly by providing a sufficient energy intake. It was therefore necessary to propose guidelines on foods and diets in hospitals in order to limit undernutrition and avoid dietary restrictions that are not justified by scientific evidence or by expert consensus.
